Happy Holidays! The year seemed to fly by. But as we approach the end of 2015 it gives us another chance to appreciate and reflect.
I am deeply grateful for my colleagues at BCC, a smart and savvy all-volunteer crew who steps in at a moment’s notice. Really, there’s too much to do. Always. But, these people make it fun and worthwhile. It makes our work more productive and our lives that much sweeter.
You’ll see some of their contributions in this issue of the BCCQ: handling grief through the holidays, making sense of new screening guidelines, sharing international feminist critiques of breast cancer culture, engaging with other advocates and activists at one of the most influential breast cancer research conferences in the world.
If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, you’ll want to carve out some time to spend with the BCCQ Special Issue published in October. “By Your Side: Being a Caregiver for Someone with Breast Cancer” is a beautiful collection of stories, honest and real.
Our spotlights of key breast cancer groups and what we love about them are ongoing. You’ll find them on our website. If there is an organization you find especially useful in confronting the status quo in breast cancer, please send us their information so we can do a review.
Thank you for reading, and for your continued support of this work. Please share or “tweet” this issue, or forward the BCCQ via email to colleagues and friends who would be interested.
Sincerely,
Gayle Sulik, PhD (Founder and Principal Investigator)
