How to Find a Qualified Lymphedema Therapist

Nudelman Headshot BWBCC member, Dr. Judy Nudelman is a Board Certified family medicine physician who combines clinical work with medical student education, and is a clinical associate professor of family medicine at Brown University. She received her MD from University of Pittsburgh and her BA from University of Michigan, and did her residency in Family Medicine at Brown University.

Dr. Nudelman’s interest in lymphedema (a potential side effect of breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy resulting in buildup of fluid in the arm) stems from her personal experience of the condition and her subsequent discovery of a widespread lack of knowledge about lymphedema and its treatment and difficulty in finding a physician who was capable of, or interested in, managing the condition. She is a certified lymphedema therapist (CLT) and served on the board of directors of the Lymphology Association of America. She has written textbook chapters and articles on lymphedema, and lectures on the subject. Her goal is to provide education and information about lymphedema and to encourage physicians to manage the condition in their patients.

In February, Dr. Nudelman gave a webinar on lymphedema: what it is, how the medical system has dealt with it, and how to find a qualified lymphedema therapist. Watch it here.
